Medium has acquired Glose
Over the years, Glose has built a fantastic product, growing to one million readers globally. They’ve fostered deep relationships with major publishers, establishing a library of more than 1 million books. More recently, they’ve expanded into the education space, and are the ebook provider of choice to some of higher education’s most important institutions like Stanford University and Columbia.
A strategic acquisition and strong partnership, both companies have similar missions: encourage people to read more. The integration of Glose will enable readers to find more of what they are looking for by an author or on a specific subject, and writers can have their different content forms all in one place, elevating their voice and perspective.
Medium, launched in 2012 by Twitter cofounder Ev Williams, is a new model for digital publishing. One that supports nuance, complexity, and vital storytelling without giving in to the incentives of advertising, where 170 million readers come to find insightful and dynamic thinking. Glose will join the Medium team, opening their first office beyond the US, in Paris.
Together, with the OneRagtime community of investors, we’ve supported Nicolas Princen and the Glose team from their earliest days and we’re incredibly proud as they take this next step toward fulfilling their mission. As lead investor for Glose’s sole fundraise, we are now excited to continue the adventure with Medium.
Huge congratulations to Nicolas, Arthur and Thomas and the entire Glose team for this fantastic journey.
